Dad had surgery yesterday. It was for a double hernia. down in the groin area. one left, one right. Doc said it would be a nothin event done all laparoscopically...turns out the right one was very big and they had to cut him a bit.
During the course of the lunch conversation with Mom she proceeds to tell me how the house, which was bought in 76 for $26,000 on an acre of land ,thats right an acre, has never been submitted to planning for all the work that was done on it through the years. All the bedrooms, the roof, the Living room, none of it has ever been coded and checked by any inspector.
I learned years ago that my Brilliant Father , who used to work for the county assessor knew that assessors never walk onto a property unless they have to. Usually they just take a picture from the street. As far back as the house is, he just let the trees grow and for 30 years , with all the add-ons, he had payed taxes on only $26,000 the original purchase.
That was funny in a "stick it to the Government " kinda way 10 years ago. But now they're gettin older and I'm the closest sibling and all of a sudden they're property is un sellable with some really bad history that will be unveiled the first time inspector X comes a callin.
This could be bad
